Hi, my name is Sara Summerville.

On September 8th, 2023, at 33 years old, my life changed forever. I lost my late husband, Jason, in a head-on collision caused by a driver under the influence. It was a knock on my door I never expected. A knock that shattered who I was, my heart, and everything I had known in about 30 seconds.

He left for work that morning like he had so many times before. I had no idea he would not be coming home to me, but instead to his everlasting home in Heaven with Jesus.

I am starting this blog to help, guide, and support anyone who feels lost in the aftermath of loss. For those who can only take life a minute at a time, and sometimes a second at a time. I want to help you give yourself grace in your grief while learning how to navigate this new life without your person.

This is a safe space. A place where you can breathe. A place where hard things can be said. A place where we can talk about the comments that hurt, the silence that feels loud, the faith that wavers, and the strength you never asked to have.

And I also want you to know this: love after loss is possible. It does not replace the love you had. It does not erase the life you shared. But it can be a part of your healing. Your heart is not limited to one chapter. It is still capable of joy, connection, and love again, in its own time and in its own way.

As much as I once hated hearing that time heals, I have learned that in its own way, it does. Healing does not mean forgetting. It does not mean the pain disappears. It means you learn how to carry it differently. And one day, you realize you are going to be okay.

So welcome to this journey.
Welcome to my family.
